Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Compass Rose - Luxury Beach Home - Stunning Views of Ocean & Waterway! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
