Finding the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Casa Bianca: Oceanfront Home Near the Point on the West End has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
