Strategies to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose and book yourrental:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Chic oceanfront suite for cozy beach getaway has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
