Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, shift your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Coastal cottage on BHI, Minutes to South Beach! 4 BR 3 Bath has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
