How to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home.
