Tips and Tricks for getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Easy Walk to Beach, Boardwalk, & Lake! King Beds! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
