Vacation rental tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Gorgeous renovated home ~ Private beach access & private ICW boardwalk\/pier! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
