Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.

• Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
• Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
• Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
• Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
