Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Lovely 4 Bed\/4 Bath Pet-Friendly Villa, short walk to beach on west end of OIB has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC beach you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
