We're new to Vacation Rental By Owner, but we're not new to the vacation rental market. Prior to listing on Vacation Rental By Owner, we have exclusively rented our property through social media & word-of-mouth. Almost all of our current guests are repeat customers, which is a strong testament to their high level of satisfaction with our home. Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself.   • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
