Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to select the best rental home in Holden Beach:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. \"My Sunshine\" - Oceanfront Condo, 2 Bedrooms \/ 2 Bathrooms has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
