Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

When to book a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • To start, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Nemo's Place: 2 Single Kayaks, 5 Bicycles and Room for Outdoor Entertaining has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
