Rest and relaxation are yours at the oceanfront bungalow Surfsong, located among mature tropical landscaping and privacy planting for a secluded feeling along the dunes of Oak Island’s West End. The entire family is welcomed at this vacation rental, which is outfitted with kid-friendly amenities and even accepts one dog weighing 50lbs or less per reservation.

This classic Carolina bungalow has been refreshed with luxury vinyl plank floor throughout the living areas, kitchen and baths, and all interior doors have been replaced with new white, solid wooden doors with a bungalow look. Appreciate ocean vistas from every room in the home!

If you tire of watching the waves, three flat screen LCD TVs, extended cable, a VCR, DVD player and wireless internet provide plenty of entertainment options. You’ll also find more nostalgic pastimes like books, puzzles, games and cards, and a booster seat and playpen for younger guests. The sturdy dining table can seat up to eight for meals of game nights, with an additional three seats at the adjacent breakfast bar.

On either side of the common spaces, you’ll find two bedrooms sharing hall access to a full standard bathroom. Three bedrooms are furnished with queen beds, while the final room has two twins instead. Each bedroom has its own vanity and mirror to make getting ready after a day on the beach a breeze, as well as a ceiling fan for your personal comfort.

You’re sure to spend most of your hours outside, whether you choose to settle in the classic wooden rockers, the porch swing or the hammock. Unwind on the oceanfront covered porch, with a deck and railings replaced in 2024, and soak in peaceful ocean vistas. Dine al fresco at the picnic table on the covered front porch after cooking up the catch of the day on the Weber grille. Savor direct beach access when you’re ready to hit the sand, or watch the little ones build sandcastles from the elevated dunetop deck with constructed in seating instead. When you’re had enough of the sun and sea, rinse sand off babies and fur-babies alike at the enclosed shower with hot and cold water under the home or the open boardwalk shower above.

Ensure your next vacation memories play out to the music of Surfsong and book your stay today!

Finding the best rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.

  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
