Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sunnyside - Ocean and Inlet views, steps to beach access, plus parking for 4! by RedAwning has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
