Strategies for getting the perfect Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Wilmington, NC rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the best rental home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose dates and a spending budget.
  • August Availability has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you crave, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
