Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the rightvacation home:

  • Start by having your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea Tales: Ocean View Condo with Community Pool, Hot Tub, Across from OKI Pier has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
