Smith Island Museum of History and Franklin Square Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Oak Island Golf Club and The Reserve Golf Club at St. James Plantation. North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport and Magic Mountain Fun Park are also worth visiting.
