Our top Wilmington, NC vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit Carolina Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Serenity awaits just steps to the Beach at Ocean Views at Seascapes has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
