Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Booking your Wilmington, NC vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Navy Nest - 1 Bedroom Apartment in Downtown Wilmington. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
