Tricks and tips to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Wilmington. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the best vacation home:

  • Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. The Sunset Bungalow- Dog Friendly-2.7 Miles to Downtown Wilmington, NC!
has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
