Finding the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Wilmington, NC vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental in Oak Island:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Big Wave: Sunny, Oceanfront Home with Awe-Inspiring Views has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
