How to get the best Ocean Isle Beach vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cherry Bomb at Ocean Isle Beach, Private heated Pool, Elevator, second row home has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
