A personal note from the owners....

Welcome to our little piece of heaven, Coastal Haven! We have been coming to the island for the last few years and wish we had found it sooner. We have four kids ages 22, 20, 16 and 13, three girls and boy. We live on Maryland's Eastern Shore and while we have ample beaches within a short drive from home, there is nothing like Bald Head Island.

This is the place where we can be fully present. It is unlike anywhere we have ever experienced. There is something about no cars and being surrounded by nature that lets you take it all in. The forest and the beaches are countless and open for all to discover. When our kids get to the island they are gone before our bags hit the floor. They are off on bicycles and skateboards, running complimentary with no cares other than to discover and be kids. We spend our days playing on the beach, looking for shells and riding the waves. Then we hit the pool for some afternoon fun, snacks and drinks before dinner, whether that's cooking at home, or appreciating one of the exceptional options on the island. We appreciate Mojo's sushi, cooking fresh salmon from the market, or a awesome steak dinner at the BHI Club, to name a few. There are also happy hour evenings on the beach and if the winds are cooperating, even s'mores around a beach fire (with the proper permit of course!). We typically round out the evening with a very intense game of Uno around the dining room table.

There is usually a daily trip to the market for one thing or another, from breakfast at the cafe, to restocking our food supply, and even great wine tastings. With three daughters, the stores are a regular stop - each has its own style and full of great souvenirs to take home. Mike's Bites is usually a daily visit too, whether it's for boxed lunches or his one-of-a-kind frozen ice, it's the ideal cool treat on a hot day.

There is the weekly Turtle Trot 5k, which is open to everybody and benefits the Conservancy (plus you get a great t-shirt for participating). We follow all of the turtle nest hatchings and excavations, which is an marvelous opportunity for all ages to experience nature firsthand. It has given our kids the gift of appreciating the efforts of the Conservancy and respecting nature through hands-on experiences. There are bird outings, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, fishing and even nighttime rides to monitor the sea turtle nests with the interns. There are countless activities through the BHI Club as well, from kids' camps, to family games and holiday special events. After all of this activity, don't forget there is a full-service spa to pamper you, too!

Over time, we have created our own cherished rituals, like getting up early to watch the sunrise on East Beach, adopting turtle nests and looking for the elusive intact sand dollar on our beachcombing expeditions. There is the peaceful time too - at the home, sitting in the open air, on a porch or a deck, feeling the breeze and listening to nothing but nature. This is what vacation should be about. This place offers everybody the opportunity to unplug and relax from the chaos and noise of every day life. This time with our family is priceless. The memories are countless and the days go by in a blur of bliss. In a world where we go so fast, here we savor every moment of taking it slow. We are so thankful to have this modest piece of the island and we want our guests to appreciate it as much as we do.

This is our vacation home, and we have taken great care to make it yours, too. We have rented countless beach properties here and elsewhere over the years, so we are resident experts (with very high standards) on what makes for a comfortable, clean and exceptional beach vacation property. As a Coastal Living Designer Network Member, this is my specialty. Everything in this home is brand new and we hope the furnishings and finishes will set it apart from anything you have experienced. We have tried to incorporate all of the details and amenities that we enjoy into this home, down to even the smallest visitors. As parents of four, we know what it's like to haul all of the 'stuff,' so we have tried to minimize that for our guests.

This home is ideal for families of all sizes, multiple families, friends, couples, girlfriends' getaways, guys' trips, graduations and weddings to name just a few! It is unique with its attached, but separate guest home, as well as the central location to everything on the island. There are plenty of spaces to be together, or find some peaceful time alone. The amazing grove of palm trees surrounding the home is nothing short of good for the soul and we hope you will leave counting the days until you return!

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Wilmington, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best vacation rental in Bald Head Island:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Coastal Living at its finest. has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC destination you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
