Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy Home by Beaches and the Famous Riverwalk - Dog-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. text the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
