How to get the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Cuddlefish: Oceanfront Home with Beautiful Sunset Views has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
