Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Wilmington, NC vacation home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To get the best rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental:

  • Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Downtown 1866 Curtis Foster House has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
