How to get the best Wilmington vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Downtown Wilmington Cottage in Historic District! 2 blocks antique district.WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
