Tips and Tricks for getting the best Wilmington, NC vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Eagles Landing at Ocean Isle Beach\n5 bed\/ 5 full bath 4 min walk to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
