Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Stunning sound-front home w boat slip and hot tub! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
