Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Holden Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Family-Friendly Beach House w/ Ocean Views, Close Beach Access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a specific Wilmington, NC beach you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
