How to book the best vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Marina 1: Spacious Townhome Within Steps of Great Restaurants, Intracoastal Wate has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
