Tricks and tips to get the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Lulla-by the Sea an Amazing Oceanfront Beach House With Pool and Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
