Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront, Sweet Life on Holden Beach, 4 Bedroom, Family Vacation Home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you long to visit, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
