Wilmington, NC rental booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in the Wilmington, NC area. To find the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ready for your Family Retreat - Private Canal Access & Steps from the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC beach you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
