Tips and Tricks to get the best Wilmington, NC vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wrightsville Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 4BR Townhome w Elevator, Ocean View, Rooftop Deck has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
