Our top Wilmington, NC rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Oak Island. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • First, have your family commit to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sands About Right\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
