Strategies to get the perfect Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wilmington, NC area. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. March Special Rent 2 Nights, Get 1 Free! Panoramic Ocean Views, Large Deck! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC destination you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
