What could be better than gathering in a great vacation home close to the beach (under 3 mins. to sand!). This Summer, we are accepting guests for a visit as short as 3 nights, a week or for as long as you want, arriving when it suits you best, to get the relaxation you deserve. Move at a more casual pace, one that fits your schedule, not dictated by someone else. Life is too short to be structured all the time, so come visit Burden’s End on your terms. You can celebrate LIFE by starting your day sitting on the rear porches watching the sunrise over the ocean, chill in the huge hammock during the heat of the day and complete the day by saluting the sun on the front porches as it sets over the marsh and ICW. We want all to relax and reconnect, with family, with friends and especially with yourself. If that sounds like what you want, what you need, then this is the home for you. Take a look at our amenities and reviews and ask any questions. You will not be disappointed. The beach is waiting.

Tips and Tricks for getting the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. IF ALL YOU NEED IS 3 NIGHTS....COME RELAX at BURDEN'S END! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
