Finding the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

When to visit Holden Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Wilmington, NC area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the right Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. \"Sundance\" - Oceanfront Home w\/ Private Pool, 5 Bedrooms \/ 4.5 Bathrooms has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
