Finding the best Wilmington, NC rental home experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental & When to go:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a max budget.
  • Themed Bedroom
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
