Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Classic Beach Cottage on the Canal w a Dock has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC beach you love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
