2 Kings | 1 Queen | 1 Twin | 1 Twin-over-twin Bunk Bed | 1 Twin Daybed | 1 Twin Trundle

Desirably located on the West End of Oak Island and just across the street from the ocean, The Shady Lady waits to welcome your family on their next beach vacation. With broad porches on the front and back of the property that include covered decks as well as open areas for sunbathing, relaxation begins before even stepping into the front door of this freshly refreshed home.

Once you pull yourself away from the view and move into the open concept living area with vaulted ceilings, you’ll notice the property lives up to its name. Bask in the comfortable seating beckons, inviting hours of conversation, or time spent in front of the huge wall-mounted flat screen TV cheering on your favorite teams. Clean lines, sandy neutrals, and cool blues soothe the senses and draw the eye to the eat in kitchen and its gleaming quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances. The oval table comfortably seats six for family meals or game nighttime, with additional barstool seating for five at the kitchen counter.

This classic floorplan provides two bedrooms on each floor connected by a Jack and Jill style full bath. On the first floor, the oceanfront bedroom provides a comfortable king-sized bed, and a bunk room provides three Twin beds in a non-traditional bunk bed format, with two lower berths and one upper berth.

Upstairs, you’ll find a second king bedroom facing the ocean, and a queen-sized bed in the second bedroom on that floor. Each of the four bedrooms provides its own TV, so no one has to miss their favorite show! The second level also features a modest lounge room equipped with a twin-daybed and twin trundle, and creates a flexible space for reading, peaceful conversation, or additional sleeping quarters.

Savor your favorite cup of coffee on the covered deck while watching the sunrise. Share memorable moments when spending quality time with adored ones in this charming home. Listen to the waves crash as you breathe in the crisp island air. Whatever your reason for a hideaway, Shady Lady has it all!

Guests with allergies should note that although no family pets are allowed for guest stays, a modest dog may occasionally be present during owner reservations.

How to get the best Wilmington, NC rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Wilmington, NC area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book your prefectrental:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Shady Lady: Spacious 4 Bed\/2 Bath Ocean View Home with Open Floorplan has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
