Our top Wilmington, NC rental home tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Wilmington, NC trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the best rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Waterfront Condo: Rosé All Day with Sunset Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
