Wilmington, NC vacation rental tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Wilmington, NC restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and pick the bestrental:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Comfortable oceanfront condo in Wrightsville Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Wilmington, NC beach you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
