Tips for getting the best Bald Head Island rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Wilmington, NC vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wilmington, NC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking your Wilmington, NC rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Welcome to West Watch on Bald Head Island! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
