Listen to the whisper of the wind through the sea grasses and the gentle crashing of the surf from the ocean-facing porch at West Haven. Located on one of the quietest stretches of West Beach, you'll find you're still walking distance of the Blue Water Point Marina and fashionable waterfront dining spot Lonerider's.

On the lower level, you'll find the open concept living space, decorated in relaxing grays and blues and flooded in natural light. Gather together and settle on the couch, adore seat or one of multiple armchairs to watch the big game. The wooden dining table seats eight comfortably, and a further three seats are available at the adjacent kitchen island.

The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and is entirely supplied with all the cookware and appliances you need to prepare the catch of the day or family favorite recipes. Even though there's a dishwasher, you may find yourself washing everything by hand as you daydream to the striking vistas of the Atlantic from the windows over the sink.

All bedrooms in the home provide a TV for personal entertainment. The mid-level floor features two bedrooms and a shared standard full bathroom with hall access. One bedroom is furnished with a king bed, while the other holds a queen.

On the upper floor, you'll find the final two bedrooms connected by a standard Jack and Jill style bathroom. The first bedroom has two queen beds, and the final bedroom features a single queen bed along with a pair of classic rocking chairs ideally positioned to take in the excellent vistas of the waves and shore.

When you're ready to hit the sand, beach access is just steps from your porch! Embrace the serenity of island life and plan your next getaway at West Haven.

Oak Island rental home booking tips:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Oak Island rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Wilmington, NC attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. West Haven: Oceanfront Split Level Home on Oak Island's West End has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
