Listen to the whisper of the wind through the sea grasses and the gentle crashing of the surf from the ocean-facing porch at West Haven. Located on one of the quietest stretches of West Beach, you'll find you're still walking distance of the Blue Water Point Marina and trendy waterfront dining spot Lonerider's.

On the lower level, you'll find the open concept living space, decorated in relaxing grays and blues and flooded in natural light. Gather together and settle on the couch, adore seat or one of numerous armchairs to watch the big game. The wooden dining table seats eight comfortably, and a further three seats are available at the adjacent kitchen island.

The kitchen offers plenty of counter space and is entirely outfitted with all the cookware and appliances you need to prepare the catch of the day or family favorite recipes. Even though there's a dishwasher, you may find yourself washing everything by hand as you daydream to the striking vistas of the Atlantic from the windows over the sink.

All bedrooms in the home provide a TV for personal entertainment. The mid-level floor features two bedrooms and a shared standard full bathroom with hall access. One bedroom is furnished with a king bed, while the other holds a queen.

On the upper floor, you'll find the final two bedrooms connected by a standard Jack and Jill style bathroom. The first bedroom has two queen beds, and the final bedroom features a single queen bed along with a pair of classic rocking chairs ideally positioned to take in the lavish vistas of the waves and shore.

When you're ready to hit the sand, beach access is just steps from your porch! Embrace the serenity of island life and plan your next getaway at West Haven.

How to get the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

When to reserve a Wilmington, NC rental home & When to go:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. West Haven: Oceanfront Split Level Home on Oak Island's West End has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Wilmington, NC beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
