Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. To book the best rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wilmington, NC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the best vacation rental:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Penny's Place: Beautifully decorated 2 bedroom condo within walking distance to has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wilmington, NC rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
