Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wilmington, NC attractions and restaurants.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wilmington, NC area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Come enjoy many \"Happy Ours\" at this charming home located on a deep water Holden Beach canal has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual Wilmington, NC destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
