Tips and Tricks to get the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Wilmington, NC vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Fish Tales: Charming Oceanfront Condo with Wrap-around Deck, Central Location Id has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
