Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in Wilmington. Booking in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • In the Wilmington, NC area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Wilmington, NC area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Wilmington, NC area:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Historic Chic 1 bedroom heart of downtown has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
